Now, I can talk about who the characters are and how they came to be.

Capt. Buzz Corny
First on the list is Captain Buzz Corny, captain of the BS Ahimsa Maru.

Captain Buzz Corny: Buzz was born in the major city of Wild Onions. His family is well-to-do, not exactly rich but not scrambling for their next meal. Buzz Corny’s family instilled in their children a sense of honor and duty and for hard work as well. He worked his way up through Space Command till now, when he is of the rank of Captain. Now he is the biggest Cock of the Walk and he is not hesitant to brag about it. He loves ratatatchino, which is like Turkish coffee with cream and sugar. Sometimes, you wonder if he is really competent to hold his command, other times you know he isn’t. He was the senior most lieutenant of the Hana Maru at the battle of Sh?ri with the Imperial fleet under Wha Zat Khan, the father of the current Imperial pretender, Wha Maroon Khan. When the bridge of the ship Hana Maru was destroyed with all hands, Lieutenant Corny, as befitting to his rank, took over the command of the remnants of the ship and not only did he rescue the surviving crew, they managed, under his direction, to destroyed an Imperial battleship. Their actions helped with Space Command’s victory over the Imperial Fleet, stopping Wha Zat Khan’s final bid to restore himself to the Golden Throne. In gratitude for what Lieutenant Corny did, he was named Captain of the Ahimsa Maru. He has commanded the BS Ahimsa Maru since, through all of Wha Maroon Khan’s attempts at placing himself on the Golden Toilet.

Is Captain Buzz Corny my version of William Shatner as Capt. Kirk? No, not really. He’s more my exaggerated version of Capt. Kirk. But, whereas we have no problem in believing James T. Kirk is a capable captain, Buzz Corny is not such a person. But, when it comes down to it, Buzz does know what he is doing, he is just impulsive and rash. Too impulsive and too rash at times. And through it all, he believes that choosing between the right way to accomplish something and having a wonderful story to brag about, he'll go for the story.

Lieut. Tea Error
Lieutenant Tea Error: Tea was born in the farmland of Amu. Her family farm was in such a devastated area, they barely grew enough to keep their family fed. Tea joined Space Command to leave the squalor of her childhood. She sends what she can back to her siblings. Her parents are dead. She worked hard to raise herself up to the senior petty chief of the Kamikaze Batsu, a cruiser type of class. Space Command commanders noticed her, bringing her into Command School. When Lieutenant Corny was promoted to command of the Ahimsa Maru, he requested her to be his first office, which was granted. She is Senior First Lieutenant Tea Error, second in command of the Ahimsa Maru. Buzz Corny knows her past. She knows Corny’s past. She also loves ratatatchino. Most members of Space Command have a thirst for ratatatchino.

I think strong females are great characters. Especially since Buzz Corny is so questionable, he needed someone to back him up, kinda like Mr. Spock to Captain Kirk, or No. 1 to Captain Pike. I saw no reason why it shouldn’t have been a female. Trust me, Lieut. Error has her moments, but she is pretty level headed. When I was trying to decide on a name for her, some show I was watching (I think it was Big Bang Theory) had a female character start chortling "a tiara, a tiara!" Okay. Lieut. Tea Error.

When I was growing up in Chicago, we had a furniture company named John M. Smyth Furniture. Their TV ads always say “John M. Smyth (smith) Or do you say Smyth (smeyeth).” I’m telling you all of this for the next character.

Gen. George S. Nuisance
General George Smyth (smeyeth) Nuisance. Commanding general of the Space Command Third Fleet, stationed at Command Station No. 9. (sings “Love potion no. 9”) General Nuisance, commander of the Third Fleet, is the youngest fleet commander Space Command has ever had. He is a good commander, but he tends to micromanage everything he orders done. He is from Comiskey City. He is third generation Space Command. His grandmother was an ensign, his grandfather was pilot of a fighter, his father captained a Maru class ship. He takes his position seriously.

General George S. Nuisance. Yes, read “Gen. George Smith Patton.” Gen. Nuisance is a hard driving commander. He believes the job must be done and he will see it is done. If he needs to crack a few skulls while getting the job done, just hope its Imperial skulls he cracks.

Col. Jen Mayhem
Colonel Mayhem is the commander of the Hornet Squadron 8. She and her squadron are responsible for patrolling the outer edge of civilization, out where the Jiggle of Planets have not been able to establish themselves or their laws. Colonel Mayhem is from the city of Pie Pay along the southern continent of the Planet Aharpace. She left Aharpace because of the stories she heard and she wanted to prove to her family that she could more than marry a rich guy and have children. She is a capable commander.

Col. Mayhem is another strong female character. But she is shown to be a capable commander who doesn’t quite believe Capt. Corny is capable. She always seem to be glad that Lieut. Error is with Capt. Corny.

Warrent Officer Mortimer Labrador
Chief Warrant Officer Mortimer Labrador. Chief Labrador was born in the mining areas of the Forbidden Planet. He showed an aptitude for fixing mining equipment, so the owner of the mines sponsored his entry into the Space Command Academy, where he excelled in Engineering, working his way up to becoming Warrant Chief in charge of Engineering and Maintenance of the Engines of the Ahimsa Maru. Chief Labrador tends to think of the BS Ahimsa Maru as his ship that he loans to Captain Corny on occasion.

A nice big, Labrador as opposed to a lap dog like a scottie. LOL! No, first of all a scottie isn’t just a lap dog. Second of all, the character of Montgomery Scott was a wonderful character, especially as played by the late James Doohan. Chief Labrador is an extremely capable engineer and all around fix it person.

Wha Maroon Khan
Wha Maroon Khan is the pretender to the Imperial Throne of the Golden Toilet. He considers himself to be the Emperor of the galaxy with the Jiggle of Planets just to be a temporary nuisance at the moment. Wha Maroon Khan is an “upper crust twit.” He expects the population of the galaxy to bow down to him and is infuriated when people don’t. He is also infuriated when people disagree with him. As a matter of fact he gets infuriated when he has nothing to be infuriated about.

Wha Maroon Khan is my version of Ming the Merciless. Actually, my version of Ming the Merciless was my Dungeons and Dragons character, Eric. (sings “Eric the half a bee.”) who looked like Ming the Merciless and would walk up to you saying “Peace, bro! Want some ‘shrooms?” However, I had Ming the Merciless in mind when I was creating Wha Maroon Khan. His grandfather, Wha Ziz Khan, was the Emperor who was defeated by the rebels and driven into exile. Wha Maroon Khan’s father Wha Zat Khan tried to re-establish himself on the throne of the Golden Toilet. It was during one of Wha Zat Khan’s incursions that a Lieut. Buzz Corny played a major role in defeating the Imperial Fleet, thusly becoming Capt. Buzz Corny.

There are more characters, but these are the main recurring characters. I did the Pirates of Pizzazz for the season 1 ending episode, I am working on a story of the Horrors of Beastwick and have the idea of the Secret Accountant Society. Plus, I think the 2nd season will end as a two part episode based around the idea of a mad scientist making an artificial event horizon.
