A “show bible” is a handy reference for everything connected to a show. Characters, relationships between them, etc. Everything you could want to know about a show and how to write for it.
Many, many moons ago, I read a segment of the Star Trek bible. It dealt with how you wouldn’t want to have two space ships battle each other with lasers, then use grappling hooks and swords to board their opponent. I remember thinking “Why the hell not?” Yes, yes, I know, Gene Roddenberry was trying to build a serious sci-fi drama show. Space 4 Rent isn’t a serious show. At all.
